overcharging alt?
so.. new alternator in for 3 weeks. go to drive today, man those dash lights are bright. look @ the volt gauge, o yay it's pegged (easily over 18v).
cause can ONLY be the alternator right? nothing else can cause over-voltage? just wanna make sure before i get a new one (warranty of course)
pretty sure, just want confirmation. thx

yep. bad alternator. voltage regulator actually, but you cant fix that separately.
dont drive on it or your battery will puke battery acid all over your engine.
did you get the alternator from autozone?

nope, a shop, its under warranty, 2yr warranty on it. parts and labour, it's the damn towing fee that costs $40! bastards
I didnt think there's anything else that can cause that. I just changed the ign switch out yesterday, but i cant see anything in there causing this.
