Default Eliminating my ATTS.....

I have heard of this, but has anyone actually done it succesfully? I know that I would have to get the NON-SH trans and a custom mounting plate, but what about all of the wires going to the ATTS? What would I do with those exsisting wires? Would I just tie them up and have my dash lights come on, or is there a right way to do this without rigging it like maybe using a base model ecu?

You dont need a non SH tranny, you can just swap out your ECU for a different and that will disable your ATTS. I'm not sure if the check light would be on because a different ecu wouldnt be wired to check if the atts was enabled/disabled. If you are wanting to get an LSD into your SH then yes you need a tranny swap and adapter plate for the intermediate shaft (i think thats what the adapter is for). I was looking on Blacktrax a local tuner's site and they had to redo a project and change out the SH block because the adapter plate for the SH block/Base tranny wasn't safe/stable. Here is what they said about the project on their page:

1994 Acura Integra - JDM H22 Swap

Customer towed this car in. It was a pending project that never got finished. Unfortuantely, they tried to swap in a Prelude SH motor equipped with ATTS. The ATTS unit was taken out and a makeshift bracket was used so that the base model intermediate shaft could bolt in. Unfortunatly we found the it to be very unsafe, scrapped that idea and refinished the car with a JDM H22A engine.

You make the call, but based on that and other things ive read i'm leaving my SH tranny alone.

Yea, well, the thing is, my 5th gear synchro set is going bad, and it is going to cost quite a bit to have it replaced, so I just thought I might be able to replace the tranny because the ATTS weighs so much anyway. I figured an LSD would be more of a benefit, but I guess if the adapter plate wont work, im not going to go through the trouble with a whole new block. If I knew what the adapter plate looked like, then I might be able to modify one in school so that its not so unsafe.

Synchro should only be a couple hundred dollar fix, new tranny + adapter+ lsd would cost you bank.

Good to know... I've just been double clutching or avoid 5th gear all together...

Looked into a JDM tranny with LSD. $1500 installed

Lol, great advice... not. The bracket idea works well if it is engineered right. I ran a bracket for several years, on a race car, that sees way more stress than most street applications. There are a couple write-ups on preludeonline about making the bracket that should be checked out.
