Default Tranny case

So my tranny case is busted because of my jackass friend. If you didnt read about it, you can read it here. Ive decided not to have it welded up because the amount of welding would cost more than another tranny. Can i use any B-series tranny case, or does it have to be a hydraulic tranny case, or what?

BTW the busted tranny i will be replacing is a USDM ITR tranny.

I never did touched the internals of a tranny, is it difficult to swap the internals? Im pretty competent mechanically and ive rebuilt a motor but i have no clue about the tranny. anybody have a write-up?

There's a complete writeup archived somewhere. And the manual would be extremely helpful. And since not all tranny cases are identically cast/machined, some clearances will be different; you'll have to recheck those and adjust them with shims.

i saw your other thread about it being busted. how much would it cost you to fix it? and how much more will you be paying to get a new one?

well i went to a local machine shop and they tried to rip me off and quoted me at least 6 hours of work. at $110/hr its a complete rip off. i know how to weld aluminum and ive done it many times however i dont have access to a Tig welder and ive never welded anything nearly as thick. the most ive done was i/c tubing. B series hydro trannys run approx 400-500.
