Default zc gears and 88-91 final drive

i just heard about this in another thread and didint wanna thread jack...

i think ive been in the dark on this one has anybody out there had any experience with this setup .... how good is this for highway driving becuse my car sucks on the inerstate now as it is and its got a 89 si tranny

this sounds very tempting except for the fact that i have to drive from tampa fl. to naples fl. every 2 weeks or so (185 miles) and now i cant realy do more than 75 because the car is screaming and i get passed like im standing still... how much more would this swap suck?

the ZC gears with the Si final drive is going to make your situation worse since the ZC gears (except for 1st) are all shorter than the Si gears - the only thing you can do to help it out is install the 88-91 HF 0.694 or 92up 0.702 5th gear - even if you had the ZC final drive, 4th and 5th would still be shorter than the stock Si - you could always put a taller tire on it and help it a little

theres always hf 5th gear swap.

or just get a regular DX transmission with the 3.88 (unless you already do).

3650 RPM is hardly "screaming." My B16A with S4C trans would turn 4000 RPM at 75mph.

it really is tempting because i want the shorter grears... i have 195 60/15's on my car now im gona get a set of 205 45/15's or 195 45/15's witch ever i come across first ill see how the car does than
