My 00 Gsr When Im driving and leave it in gear as it deacelerates I hear a winding sound and the lights (all of them) get dimmer. Could it be the alternator? Is there a way to check if its the alternator or not?

Yes it's your alternator.

 

Sounds like the alternator to me as well. Take it out and get it checked at autozone. I believe they can check it on the car as well if Im not mistaken.

 

I did another test today. i unhooked the battery terminals while the car was running to see weather or not it would run still. It continued to run and the lights didnt dim or nething. It revved up normal too. I let it sit like that for good 2 min. But still hear the winding sound. Ne ideas?
