Is there a faq on this forum....
for what important things to look for when potentially buying a used s2k? I'm going to take a local one i've found for a testdrive tommorow. I checked out the exterior in person on sunday, and everything looks great (its a '05 with 11k on it)...except for one thing, a red honda emblem on the back.
It's being sold through a used car dealership, but the emblem makes me a bit worried because now i'm hoping some ricer teen didn't own it and modify it/beat on it before putting it back to stock. Still, I figure, with 11k on it, how much damage could have been done?

no offense but every single s2k is beaten on, whether owned by a teen or a 80yr old lady. i have seen every age and gender beat on this car. if it is being sold through a non honda dealership, ask them to get an inspection done by honda. when you go to a honda dealership for a prebuy inspection, they always find something (whether it be major or something as minor as maintenance). one plus is it being an 05 is still under warranty. good luck with the buy

Yea, I plan on doing that also. The s2k in question is located at a small dealership that is literally 10 seconds from scott honda, so I definitely want them to check it out.

the prebuy inspection isn't cheap, its 150-180 but well worth it when buying a s2k. whats the name of the dealership? i am about 40 mins from scott honda but have gone there a couple times
I think it's called coast to coast auto. Just a little shop with about 10 cars out front right on westtown road off of 202, right in front of the automall. BTW, is your s2k sold yet? I wanted to ****** it up but I don't want to hassle with selling my a4 outright at the moment so i'm planning on just trading it in at a dealership.

I see very few independent car lots with any year S2000 unless it was in bad shape cosmetically or structurally. Look for overspray in all the truck, hood and door jams. Also look for the vin stickers on all the fenders, bumpers, doors, hood and trunk. Check body lines and color match. And I strongly suggest doing so during the day. Also the dealership can perform a title search and carfax so you can know everything about the car's history. You might even be able to get the previous owners name and info. That's what I did when I purchased mine. Good luck

accidents don't show up on alot of things...
you physically have to report that your car was in an accidnet to the dmv for it to go on record

Are there any "trouble spots" I should be looking at on the top to see any signs of abnormal wear? I've been reading some horror stories about holes forming in the tops.
