Default boring out sleeved z6

what is the max I can bore a sleeved z6 to? i was told that 78mm will give me a 1.8L motor. can I go any bigger or is that about it?

A 1.8L z6 would need a 79.5mm bore. But it's best not to overbore it. Thicker sleeves = more boost, and boost > displacement.

78mm = 1.72L.

It's kind of a bad idea to go that big because you can only do about two rebuilds before the sleeves become useless. (assuming you do a .5mm overbore with each rebuild). Plus you'll have to buy a different set of custom pistons with each rebuild because no one makes them that big.

I would leave it at 76. If you go to 78 you won't see any noticeable gains. Plus, if you ever melt a piston, you will always have a nice buffer to bore the sleeves out to 77 or 78.
