Default WHAT RODS TO GO WITH ON MY H22?

In the past I have heard real good things about 2 companies, Eagle and Scat. I was wandering if anyone had a preference on which rods between the two. If you look they both have the same specs, and the guy building my motor said that in his supercharged 302 he used scat and they are currently hold 620-650 whp. So they sound good and they are just a little cheaper then Eagle bout $15 so nothing big. Any input would be great. Also im looking for another piston other then JE everything im trying to order from them is on B/O. Thanks For any info..

eagle and scat are "descent" brands. pauter and manley are excellent brands. i'd go with pauter or manley if i were you. you will pay more for them, but you get what you pay for. there is a set of manleys for the h22 on ebay right now. try to get those if you can. i had eagles in my previous setup.......when the engine got too hot and started to detonate, the rod heated up too much and one of the bolts broke causing the rod to knock a hole in the side of my built block. now i'm starting over with Manley rods. they are WAY more beefy. I'm not knocking on Eagle rods, because they are good rods. by why be good when you can be better?

I suggest Endyn Rollerwave pistons (probably best of the best for the H22), and CP pistons are also very good. Also Arias is another good one.

Manley vs. Eagle (broken obviously)

and another......

i have tried manley, eagle, and carrillo fo n/a applications. i am not a big fan of eagle rods. the specs on mine were way off, as is usually the case w/ eagle.

manleys are great rods, but carrillos are lighter and just as strong. if your going boosted the only rods i would go w/ are crower. im sure others will work, but you know you will be safe w/ crower, plus there specs are always dead on.

It all depends on your setup. If you go NA then you want to get lighter rods. If I were going to boost heavily, I would get a nice beefy rod.

He is putting out 650whp in a 302 huh... and how many rods does a 302 use? Honda's only use 4. You do the math.

Eagle's and Scat rods are the same and come from the same manufacturer over seas. If you want 600+ I would recommend going with a nice pair of pauters or carillo's.

just in case you're gettin the eagles or scats on ebay i believe that they only have 5/16 bolts instead of the newer ones with 3/8. just somethin to watch for, i've seen a ton of the older ones on there lately.

THANKS FOR THE REPLYS.
I cant figure out what set up I want to go with, there are so many combo's, I am trying to get the strongest combo with good performance for the least amount of money. I guess it will be worth it the first time I hear the BOV.

The answer to your question depends on how much power you plan on making. We have been lucky using the same eagle rods for 3 years now. We highly recomend Arias pistons. Good luck with your set up. We are upgrading our rods this year.
