DIY EK and DC2 code reading tool and get rid of that annoying seat belt light at the same time, may work with other Honda models with the little two wire blue plug near the ecu for code flashing.
I just got sick of trying jamming a wire between the 2 wire blue plug near the ECU to flash the ecu codes.
I started out putting in my new s2k seats into my 96 Coupe and upon taking the seats out i decided to get rid of my seat belt light by unplugging it, that turns it off and then discovered the connector on the seat side is the same as the 2-wire blue connector for flashing the codes.
Step 1. CUT OFF SEAT SIDE SEATBELT LIGHT PLUG

Step 2: GET SOME SODDER and SOME HEAT SHRINK

STEP 3. START SODDERING, I CUT MINE TO SHORT AND SODDERED SOME MORE WIRE ON. DONT FORGET TO PUT THE HEAT SHRINK ON BEFORE YOU MAKE YOUR LAST SODDER JOINT.



Step 4. PLACE HEAT SHRINK OVER SODDER JOINTS AND HEAT


Finished, plug it in and flash ecu codes. I hate seat belt lights and I think its a good little tool for the tool box, makes life easier.

I've had the seatbelt plug disconnected forever but I never realized it matched the jumper plug to read the CEL codes... nice writeup!

the plug fits into the same connector you use when you check for CELs. so instead of using a paper clip to plug into the connector to read the CEL # you have, you use this plug w/ the ends soldered together to read your CELs

the check engine light on the cluster flashes in a corresponding sequence to display what code is being thrown

Does unplugging the seat beat plug get rid of the annouying beeping at start-up?

 

Good question, I unplugged mine I dont think it beeps I hardly pay attention.

 

For the record I do wear my seatbelt but I spend a lot of time sitting in my car on breaks during my classes with it running so the amps dont kill my battery, and after staring at a comp monitor all day, i dont need a red gleam in my eye while im sittin there at night, even with that said I took the plug off seats that arent even in my car anymore, I thought it was a good thing to take somthing thats trash and make it useful. Besides I dont need a light to tell me im not wearing my belt. thanks

So you let your handbrake down whenever you sit in your car too? Do you also disable the backlighting on your gauge cluster and instrumentation so that it doesn't bother you at night?

Please: if you're going to use excuses to make something stupid seem less ignorant at least think up something that isn't so idiotic.

It's great that you found that the connector can be used for the DIY jumper (for those who don't want to use a paperclip, I guess...), but doing so at the expense of safety equipment is a no-no in my book.

How is freaking light saftey equipment, its an dummy light. Sure the belt is a saftey item, but its common sense to wear it. I dont need a damn light telling me something I already know.
