Speedometer Jumping
Recently I'm having a problem of the speedometer jumping around when I am doing medium to heavy braking. It will just blip up (as high as 70 mph when going like 20) then fall down, and blip again, but once the car is stopped it acts fine. It also does this on bumpy roads (big bumps), it will bounce (only like 5 mph).
I am thinking its a loose wire somewhere, but wanted to see if there was any other place I should look. My friend said his tach did that before his battery died, but my battery isnt that old so I doubt its that.
thanks for the help.

why not start with checking the parts that you dont have to buy before spending some money. If its just a loose wire, but I go out and buy a new cluster as per your request, then there is the hassle of returning it and most yards I know wont let you return parts. Even if they did, a 15% restocking fee is 15% of money I didnt need to spend.
So aside from buying a new cluster, is there any particular wires I should be checking or anything I should look into?

yes.. dunno why the other guys are saying to get a cluster right away thats not smart.
check the grounds and check the plug to the vss. if its happening over bumps a loose or bad ground sounds like the culprit.
im willing to bet its just a bad ground or loose wire.

its the vss mine does the same thing but they are big money but depending the motor i know the ex and dx have the same vss so check your local junk yard for one cheep and that should fix the jumping around and it should set a code if its the vss
well if you could possibly swap tachs with a friend of yours that has the same tach then that wouldn't cost you a thing...but if not or if you still have the same problem then check the VSS.
