transmission noise, throw out bearing??
My car has started having this nasty rattle. I first thought it was the timing belt hitting on the cover because at about 2800 rpms it started rattling. And it really only does it while it is accelerating. So once i figured out that it wasnt the timing belt, i began to listen in closer on where the sound was coming from. I norrowed it down to the transmission. While at idle you can barely hear it and it is pretty quiet until 2800rpms and then it really starts the noise. I took and tried to wiggle the shift arm that attaches to the slave cylinder and it could sort of subside.
It does it whether the clutch is engauged or disengauged @ about 2800rpms.
Would this be the throw out bearing going bad?

No it's the bearing in the tranny. you can only hear the throwout bearing if you are stepping on the clutch and then the noise appears. what you have described is bad mainshaft bearing possibly countershaft as well hard to say with out hearing it. But it's time for a rebuild on the tranny either way.
not to jack the thread, but I get that rattle from the moment the car is started, then when it warms up it quiets down, but then when I accelerate pretty hard in any gear it can noticeably be heard.
So more than likely the tranny is going?

you are full of **it
you hear a wiggling noise with your foot off the clutch, which goes away when you step on the clutch, and also goes away when you hold the clutch fork??
that is a bad throwout bearing
a bad mainshaft bearing would make noise only with the pedal out and the engine turning the shaft, and it would get louder as rpm went up
a bad countershaft bearing would make noise only when the car is in gear and the pedal is out, and would get louder with speed
a bad differential bearing would make noise when the car is moving, and would get louder with speed
dont post up crappy info....trans bearings are expensive, throwout bearings are not....

whether the clutch is in or out, it makes the noise. if it is the throw out bearing, how long will it last like this? i am trying to take it as easy as i can because i dont have the time nor money to replace it. will it mess up anything if it waits a little bit?
