my car won't start every time i hit the brake
yesterday morning i moved my car so that my mom could get out, then about 15 minutes later i went to start it up again and nothing happened. I jumped it and it started right up as if nothing was wrong... but when i shut it off and hit the brake it made a weird sparking noise and the lights in the dash flickered, then nothing would work again. It seems like the battery is fine but somewhere the wiring is messed..... any suggestions?
thanks

seems like your battery is actually dead, not fine.
thats why when you jumped it, it was fine.
it doesnt sound serious at all. either charge the battery, or see if the battery will hold a charge.

It's a 92 LS... it seems more like something is shorting out when i hit the brake. as soon as i connected to the battery with the jumper cables everything worked like normal... it started up first try. it's really weird... a friend at work said it could be the alternator... I'm not a genious with cars but i have a basic understanding. is this something i wanna tinker with or should i just send it to a machanic(which i don't really want to cuz i'm broke)?

see if its the battery.
if the battery is fine then its most likely your alternator.
one or the other it seems in your situation.
especially because when you say your giving it full battery power from doing a jump you say its fine.
so obviously your battery is dead and thats why its happening.
get the battery tested, if they find a bad battery get another one.
if the battery is good test the alternator, it may not be charging the battery properly.

i second that. i would also verify that your battey connections are good, tight and clean. don't forget to check your battery ground
