Default blue smoke!! ACK!

ok heres the deal. recently, my car likes to smoke upon acceleration. its that lovely blue-white color, which means it is burning oil somewhere. however im not sure where to start looking to fix this problem. it only happens when i accelerate from a dead stop. it seems the longer i stay stopped the more smoke comes out when i accelerate. if anyone can give me some suggestions, i would really appreciate it. thanks!

Generally, when it smokes under acceleration, it points to bad piston rings. However, your comment about more smoke the longer you idle would indicate valve stem seals. A compression leakdown test should be able to point out which one is the cause, but you may be dealing with both.

i have blue smoke too... sniff* if it does end up bein the valve stem seals, how much does that cost to replace?

i had my engine rebuilt less than 15,000 miles ago, they just put on a used gude port and polished head, so maybe thats it? anyone else got any ideas?

mine smokes when i get on the gas, a puff will come out when i downshift on the highway

It could be your head gasket?Look at your spark plugs and see if you have oil deposits on them.

Does it idle up , then drop almost to a stall, then up and down again?

it used to, but then i took of the iacv and cleaned it and raised my idle slightly

now it just slowly drops then once it gets too low it surges a bit then starts the whole thing over
