Ive heard mixed reviews about how hard it really is. I was going to attempt it on a dx that was carbed but i didnt and instead bought an '87 Si. theres people on here who did it and they said it wasnt that bad so i guess if you have the time than anythings possible. One thing i was told by Brian Gillespie at HASport he said that HF's were bad to swap over to fuel injection. He said dx's are ok but to not do it to an HF. I really dont know why something to do with the wiring. I know this dosent help much but thats all i know. Good Luck either way
Due to its feather light weight (it is the lightest CRX) the 1G HF is a GREAT choice for a B16A swap. But there is the issue of carb -> fuel injection. I have never personally done it. But people have. As for the fuel system, some people make custon lines. But I would first look into trying to retrofit your HF with lines from a 1G SI model. If this is possible, it would be by far the easiest way to go. And since 1G SI models are quite common at pick-and-pull type yards, it should not break your bank account. The wiring could be handled in any one of a number of ways. I personally would take the dash harness from a later CRX or Del Sol VTEC (depending on the generation of B16A you are using) and strip it down to the bare essentials required to run the motor. In other words, forget about trying to run the dash lights, HVAC, etc. with the newer harness. Just leave the original harness for this stuff. Use the ECU as a stand alone unit rather than trying to integrate it with the rest of the harness.
