well it could be

1. Failure to properly tighten everything when installing new battery

2. Usually the alt itself does not go bad but the voltage regulator inside of it does.

Just a quick question for you: is it a I4 or V6? I would have it load tested to make sure that there are no faults........

isnt it possible to check if its the alt.. if u start the car and disconnect the battery.. and if it is still running then the alt is good and if it dies out the alt is bad? im not sure if thats the same proceducre as hondas.. but on other cars ive seen it done and its a way to check if the alt is bad or not.. could try it.. but probably wanna see what others say before.

I know i tried it on my honda accord 97 se 4 banger.. and i thought it was the alt so i jumpe started my car and then took unhooked the battery and my car still ran fine, but when i hookd the battery back up and tried to start it woudlnt start, so it just ended up being the battery..

that isn't always a reliable test since the alt may put out enough current to run the car but not charge the battery. Take it off and have it tested at a auto parts store. If the regulator went bad, it most likely toasted the battery and you should replace that as well.

This could give you a pretty good idea, i would try this because it is simple and easy.
