It wasn't until recently that I had to pop my valve cover open in order to do a valve adjustment (just bought the car and I don't think the previous owner kept up with maintenance). I then noticed that there was quite a bit of scoring inside the head. Oddball scratches could be found on the firewall side and the radiator side of the head. It also looked as if I were missing little pieces of metal here and there! Regardless, the car runs fine.

Those are factory grinds from the casting. nothing to worry about.

I've searched before, but most of the pics were dead. Hopefully imagestation will allow these pics to stay up so future folks won't freak when they've got chunks of head missing.
