Default '01 Prelude Mystery Leak

My '01 Prelude (79K miles) is leaking what appears to be hydraulic fluid under the driver's side front fender. There has been quite a bit of fluid on my garage floor; however, it doesn't appear that brake fluid or power steering fluid levels are down in their reservoirs. Any idea what might be causing this?

Is it on the driver's or passengers?
What color is the fluid?

Could be brake fluid - coming from the brake lines or could be clutch fluid(which is brake fluid).

Aka hydraulic fluid. Check your master and slave cylinder lines.

Well, the brake fluid levels in the reservoir don't seem to be down. Is there a clutch fluid reservior that I can check?

Yes. Should be right next to the brake fluid resevoir. Right right next to it.

Actually, it might be different for 5th gens.

Does your clutch pedal seem weak at all?

5th gens have the clutch fluid right next to the brake fluid as well. but if it was brake fluid, it would have a brown color to it. are you sure its not from the AC? can you tell us what is directly above the leak on the floor?

The color of the hydraulic fluid is, I would say, a very light yellow-brown--sorta like sewing machine oil.

Anway, I took the car to the shop today, so we'll see what they say.

Thanks, all, and I'll let you know.

I guess I just qualified for the dumbass of the year award.

The shop just called me and said the leak was from a quart of Mobil 1 oil that had fallen down and out of sight. Who knows how long it had been there, or why it started leaking!

Duh.

.......... :sighs: **** happens

Be lucky it wasn't anything serious though. I'd take the fallen quart of oil any day over a leak.
