Its a legal matter. . .long story short though- i have a 01 prelude-about 8 months ago it hydrolocked in VA(where im from) but im in the military stationed in NC. so i took it to a garage back home. bad idea. its a bunch of rednecks but it was the only place that i could take it to. so they said it would be about 2 weeks to fix it. come to find out i had bent a rod into the shape of an S. it was bad but they said that was the only thing wrong. just that rod everything else was fine. i said ok! well SIX MONTHS later i finally got my baby back. it was not good. they basically raped my poor baby! i gave it back and told them no this isnt right please fix it. so a month later and 3000.00 i get my car back. it was running ok, not like it did before but it was running. as i was talking to the guy he was like "man i aint never worked on one of them hondas" i almost started crying! anyways today i was driving down the interstate had the cruise control on and all of a sudden i heard a "pop" and cruise control turned off. i pulled over and called a friend i tried to start it once and it just made lots of bad noises! so i was kinda hoping that i could talk to someone that worked at a garage so i could get their opinion on what i should do.

thanks for everything!

Wow.

Man, i'm not even going to TRY to help.
If you're in Virginia - I think Anthony is there. It's going to cost you some paper though. Anthony definately knows his **** though -don't expect to just be able to take your car there and have priority over his other customers. He'll take care of you though.

Is anything unusual looking under the hood?

hell yeah - take 'em to court. As long as you have a good receit - with their warranty information on it. Its definately a labor thing - they can't legally not offer you a warranty on labor.

If it was a small shop, good luck.
I would never take my car to a redneck. Maybe a diesel..............

take them bitches to court. Make sure you call them to let them know its fucked up - hopefully this is all recent. Don't wait to do anything either - the longer you wait, the harder the judge will be.

Don't you have insurance? They should cover stuff like that. Take it to a real shop.

See if your insurance company will reimburse you for that stuff.

If they do, take it to a REAL shop to be fixed.

$3,000 - man, i could do a lot with that money. Those rednecks probably just bought them a used Cummons.

there is a lot more to the story than what i told. . . i just tried to make it shorter! note to self: never let a redneck who has never worked on a honda especially a h22 fix a hydrolocked engine! by the way is there anyway that i couldve bent my rod as bad as i did and not do any harm to anything else?

If the bill is 3000 and under, you go to small claims court. If it is 1 penny over 3000, you go to common pleas court where you will need an attorney. It will be expensive. You can probably get away with a 500-1000 retainer. Since you are in the military, do they provide any type of legal help for/to you? You have the burden of proof. You have to be able to prove that the problem you have now is due to the negligence of the shop that did the work. I will do my best to help you. I am in my 2nd year of law school at Case Western and work at Squires Sanders & Dempsey (ssd.com). The most immediate advice I can give you is to find out exactly what is wrong. Get 2 or 3 opinions in writing. If you contact the shop that did the work, be very polite. Don't **** them off. I know you are pissed, but you must stay calm. If the mechanic/shop accepts liability, you can file a claim with their insurance company. Email me with all the details you have. Be specific.

Don't bring up the fact that the mechanic admited he hasn't worked on hondas before. This will go in your favor if it goes to court. So, don't rub it in his face.

One call to Vinnie the killer pimp.. thats what I would do.. But seriously take them to court, and make them fix it proper no matter how much it costs them. I had something similar to this happen when I had a VW and the shop ended up having to buy me a new engine and have it installed by the dealer. Good luck hope you get it sorted.

they DID give you a receit right?.........not just hand written?
You do have alteast one of their names correct?

..........get those documenst together. Anything that has ANYTHING to do with them - put it all in a folder. Trust me, the judge will ask for something, and if you don't have it - it'll look bad on you. Also, try to have a good mechanic - ASE mastercertified preferebly - break open your engine to see what went wrong. This way you can say that they were the cause. Because if they fixed a rod, and later your belt snapped - it wouldn't fault to them. Hope you understood what i just said.

its just like having an estimator come out to look at the car.

Did you use a credit or debit card to pay for it? If so they may be able to help you out also. Also go to the legal department on your base they can help you out and if not they will at least point you in the right direction. Plus the legal help on base is free and usually they will make some calls for you and try to get things resolved.

Basically you are looking at having to take the shop to court provided you did not sign any 'as-is' paperwork voiding them from anything that goes wrong with the engine. Your best bet right now is to have a reputable shop or ASE certified mechanic check the engine out and diagnose it. Then take what is known and decide if you want to take them to court or not. The whole legal issue is one big pain in the ***.

I sent you my personal contact number. You can also contact me at AVengineering1@aol.com
