Default Should I keep my teg

I read this site everyday, but rarely post.
I wanted to get peoples thoughts on my situation.

I have a 95 3dr LS with 140,000 miles, no mods. The clear coat is coming off and I still have the stock wheels which look like ***. In addition, I have the normal problems of a ten year old car - windows are slow to roll up, things rattle, etc.

I would like to fix the car up, but there are two things I am worried about. One - the engine taking a dump soon. Two - I'm 25 and feel that I might be outgrowing the car to some degree (sometimes it feels too boy racer).

Anybody thrown 3 or 4 grand at making their car look better and regretted it? Any thoughts on the "getting too old to own a teg" thing?

Would you trust a 140,000 mile LS engine that has been taken care of (but still driven hard)?

Thanks alot. Oh yea, money isn't a problem (within reason) as long as I'm not just throwing it away.

i have no doubts in my 91 integra's 172k motor....

so it depends on you...

do you keep the "boy racer" reliable integra...or do you sell it and get something newer..its up to you..

if you feel youre too old for it, sell..someone would love that car...

get a tsx or something..i dont know

I have 145k on my motor boosted at 8 psi daily without a doubt that my motor can handle it. If you feel like you are outgrowing it, I would say sell it. If you are are worried about the longetivity of the motor, you shouldn't be.

140k is nothing on a LS that has been taken care of. I just broke 210K the other day, and I beat the **** out of my car.
If you feel too old for your car, you can always sell it now, or wait and fix it and sell her later.
Its all preference. Good Luck with your decision.

I say keep it and enjoy it. I will be 34 in Feb and got my teg only a few months ago. I love driving it. I got a 94 LS and it suffers the same 12 year old car problems. I don't mind doing the little repairs to keep it going. 30 MPG compared to my Tahoe's 14 makes it all worth while. My wife and kids even bought me new wheels for xmas and I am buying myself tires for my birthday. I got to admit it does feel funny when the younger kids look my way while driving around town.

I think you are in the wrong place asking if its worth it or not to keep your teg. I think the answer is unanimously going to be "of course its worth it!!" But like people have said previously, 150k on a b18 is nothin. Ive done well over 210k on a b18. The integra is an amazing car, but if you are embarrased driving it, hell, dont drive it. I love to drive my teg and dont give a **** what other people think about it. If you love it, rock it.

EDIT: you make it sound like its a bad thing driving an 11 year old integra. 'Live with it'? hell. Ive owned 4 integras and have loved every one.

in your post it sounds like your not happy with it anymore, so indeed you have made up your mind already. it shouldnt be up to ht to make your mind up for you or talk you out of selling it. bottom line is do what you want, if i was in your sit. id sell cuz its not making you happy any more.

If you feel like you're outgrowing it, then get a new car... I dont really like the rx8 or the 350z though.. Id possibly check out the new mazdaspeed6 or something of that sort... nice and quick, really good handling and they look nice as well.

Yeah thats nothing,

I had 234K Miles on my 87 integra when I sold it, lastyear, and the owner
say its still great.

My current motor has over 300K but I just did a headgasket change, and it shuld be good for another 100K,
with you being a little older, its up to you.

you could spend that money on fixing it up,

Or build it, or buy another car

dont do anything. just ride the thing out till something goes bad and it would cost more to repair it than the car is worth its self. no need to make it cosmeticaly better. save your money and get your self a house in the future. you also may need that money to get you little lady a perty lil ring

Thanks for the feedback. Its good to hear people with a lot more miles than me are still loving the car.
I've decided to paint it, shave the antenna (broken) and put new wheels on over the next few months.
I'll let you know how it goes....
thanks again

Don't ever regret your mod investments!! :D I've thrown away ALOT of money on my stupid car, and while sometimes i think i'm stupid, as do many others, i don't regret it. It makes me happy, so screw em. And man, i know what your saying about the age thing. I'm 21 and i used to think i needed a car more "my age". But i realized that alot of integra owners have cars that i would never classify as a high schoolers toy. It's really all in what you make of it. Good luck ;D

I had to answer the same question with my car a 94ls I bought it with 146K and have 172K and it still runs great with normal maintience. The only thing is driving lowered has worn out my suspension and some other parts. I plan to keep driving my teg as long as it runs great and pump money into it for mods. Keep it and have fun with it and enjoy it!

keep the teg. its getting rare. i think pretty soon we're not gonna see much tegs ne more because its most stolen. my gsr has 155k on it and still smoke alot of other gsr''s out there with bolt ons. with that money u should swap a new motor n have it feel like new with a paintjob too.. my2cents

97 LS 3 door here.

Repaint rare stock paint, shave emblems and sidemoldings, mild drop, new clean looking 15-16' rims. Regretting 3-4 grand? no way!

Too old for integras? nah.. they are classic if not riced out.. the lines of the car looks so nice. I kept most of everything stock and Im happy i did that.

are you ever too old to look at a teenage girls butt? didnt think so...its all in what you like,as far as milage is concerned with reliability...i have LS with 171k and spray the **** outta it with a 75 shot and never afraid of it letting me down. and as long as you stay away from body kits and neons and rice crap like that......you can never spend too much money on it cause theres always a way to upgrade or improve. paint it,lower it,wheels, I,H,E, and n e JDM accessory you can image ......thats my $00.02

I just fully rebuilt my motor, and replaced just about every thing under the hood. Now i'm geting skirts and a front lip painting it, then doing the interior. I can't stop now, i've come too far, but I wish I didn't cause now I'm really wanting a brand new car and I spent enough to put a huuuuuuuuuge down payment on one... But hey. no car payments and my car runs like a champ. I love driving my teg... It's all up to you though.

what do you want out of the car? Purpose?

Personally i wouldn't spend any more money on the car than you have to. I'm in the same position right now. I actually thought about selling mine in the spring for extra money (i have an '86 vw that i can drive around), then financing a nicer car. The 350z was actually the car of choice for me as well. After driving that, the evo, the sti, and a bunch of other comparable cars (rx-8, e36 m3 (also top choice), etc.). You'll have to decide this on your own. If you're having doubts on keeping the car do NOT spend any more money on the car than you have to. Just hold on to it until you decide what to spend the money on.
