What's The Best Way To Lower An '02-'05 Civic SI- EP3???
I want to lower my '03 Civic SI about 1 3/4". I'm not interested in spending the $1000.00+ on coilovers.
I've already tried the HFP (Honda Factory Performance) kit and found the ride not much worse than stock but the kit did not lower the car enough!
What has worked for those that have lowered their EP3s??
I'm considering Tokico shocks and Tanabe springs with a camber kit. I do not want a stiff/bouncy ride. Anyone have any imput?? Thanks Dan

Shocks and lowering springs will work fine but be careful of issues with the tie rods binding below 1.5" drops, especially on softer springs like the Tanabe and Tein S-Techs. They apparently make a lot of racket. I've also heard of issues with them crunching on the unibody.
J's Racing offers aftermarket reinforced tie-rods that solve the problem but they're pricey. $350.

The only alternative is flipping the tie-rod but it requires some light modification. If you do a search, I'm sure you can find the thread on how to do it.

i recommend eibach prokit with tokico hp's. the ride is very comfortable, but still performs very well. i would post some pictures if my friend's server wasn't down.
you won't need a camber kit, but you can always get one if you choose. there will be slight negative camber in the back, but nothing overly noticeable, or enough to cause negative tire wear.
as for the drop. not sure if its the same with other struts, but the advertised 1.2 inches or whatever it is from eibach is very modest. it will settle out to about 1.5, give or take a little. nothing extreme, but very noticeable compared to stock.

Actually, I have the Eibach Pro Kit on my EP right now with stock struts and they are perfect! They are very comfortable, but they don't lower enough! I'm switching over to the JIC Magic FLT A2. I recommend Eibach Sportlines with Tokico 5 Way Adjustable!

I currently have Progress Springs with Tokico Shocks on my ep3 and love it. Firm ride, a little stiff but overall I am very pleased.
Not to much of a expensive setup as well.
Just my .02

Go to kingmotorsports.com they are the mugen dealer. The mugen kit is basically 1k and the safest way to lower an EP3, even better than HFP. With the mugen struts, the front struts were made with a lower mounting arm to counter the effects of a lowered height, aka don't worry about the tie-rod problem. It is a bit harsher ride, at least that's what I hear, than the HFP, but then again the spring rates were increased along with dampening to match. It is a complete package, take out your old, in with the new. This is deff my route in two weeks, it appears to be the easiest way to lower the car, safely. Oh, and showa makes these struts so they will most likely last you for the life of your ownership. Good luck on a choice!

Old post I'm sorry but is it safe to cut the springs while on the car still like they said? Would I need any adjustments doing so like replacing anything that might get damaged from lowering it on all stock?
Im looking for hfp coilovers
I absolutely loved my Tokico D specs strut/springs setup. Great height, infinite adjustability. I put over 60,000 miles on them. Not 1 issue. Ever.
Broke ***. Geez.
cutting spring is a big epic fail... you should put the keys done, take your driving license and cut it to pieces!
Do it right or don't do it at all!!!

- Mugen drop is less aggressive, but I hear it is a bigger drop than the HFP kit.
- Ride is much better than the TEIN setup; I can take the "mellow" speed bumps in my neighborhood without slowing down as much as I used to have to.
- I bought the Mugen SS used in 2009 for about $870 from a guy who had put about 2.5k on them. I've seen them in forums and on eBay for as low as $550 recently.
- My only gripe is I wish they were as low as my TEINs.
- I may bite the bullet and just get the TEIN flex kit.
- The Raceland coilovers are getting some buzz due to their super cheap price (~$310), and people who have them say the ride quality is really good. But even Raceland admits this kit isn't suitable for autocross or hard cornering.

also ppl who have them complain after 4-5 months that there is a lot of rattling coming from the coilovers (Racelands)
