F-20C swap into my 95' TT-RX7 ?
Well I wondering if anyone has done this ? I know it'll **** off a lot of rotary guys but oh ******* well ! The jdm F-20C has more hp than the stock TT 13B RX7 motor and a 1000 times more reliable ! My original plan has to do a LS-1 swap than I figued what the heck do a F-20C swap instead lighter swap & cheaper ! Also I'm going to boost it ! I bought the car with a blown weed whacker in it ! And wouldn't consider doing a rotary at all !
Ls-1 was my first choice then I checked around and that would've been the best power for the money but they're getting pretty expensive at $3500-4000 for motor/tranny swap then I'll need $1500 in extra parts to make the swap fit and work ! And have 350hp at the crank and gain 60lbs total over the rotary swap ! Then the nissan 20 motor came to mind ! And its been done before. But i can get a honda F-20C swap for less money and have more horsepower than the nissan swap and and only be around 70hp less than the ls-1 swap and about 180lbs less than ls-1 swap ! Also with a lil' boost it'll still be cheaper than the ls-1 swap and very reliable !
I think there are better choices. You can get an LT1 for much less than a LS1 and still have 300hp and gobs of torque (soimething which will be sorely lacking in an F20c). A step down from that would be an aluminum-headed L98 TPI. The ultra-budget route would be a 5.0; you could get the engine for a few hundred bucks and use the left over money to build it up. The V8's won't be quite as light as an F20c, but it will be cheaper to make more power with them.

The reason I wouldn't consider the LT-1 is the cast iorn block ! The LS-1 swap will run me roughly around $5500 to $6000 thats with installing it myself! And have 350 crank hp and be a mid 11 sec car ! And the parts and labor to build the Ls-1 motor to 530 hp at the crank is roughly around $4000 ! Where in the F-20C motor/tranny/ecu and harnesss,mounts and custom driveshaft will run me around $3200 and to boost the F-20C with full turbo setup and A engine management system would run me an extra $4500 and get me around 700hp at the crank on roughly 28lbs of boost ! So the LS-1 built would run me roughly $10,000 compared to the F-20C boosted @ roughly $7700 and about 180lbs less in weight !

There are so many more expenses going turbo than just the turbo kit alone. I don't know where you got yoru numbers, but my buddy is doing an LS1/FC for 8000 or so total, including the car and selling the old car parts.

Trust me on the price on the ls-1 swap I've owned my shop for 10 years and I get all my turbo set-ups either complete or piece them together ! And its a lot cheaper than you'll ever imagine with brand new parts including new pistons,rods,bearings,standalone engine management,injectors,fuel pump,intercooler,ic piping,turbo (T-70),manifold ! And for the $8000 your buddy is going to spend hes still going to have 330-350 crank hp ! Roughly about 270-280whp ! Don't get me wrong its a great swap but I can double that whp with less money spent and have a better power to weight ratio ! Also its a lil' more unique ! I've owned and built a 1991 astrovan yes I said astrovan airbagged on 18"rims 18x8's front and 18x9.5's rear with 465hp @ the crank without the 250 shot of laughing gas ! So roughly 715hp @ the crank on the bottle ! That was built with a gm ZZ430 with milled heads/cam/intake and tuned !

Also jackazz before I put the zz430 in the van I had a 4.3 syclone in the van and it was too much of a hassle with the wiring and space for the turbo intercooler so I sold the syclone swap to a good friend and bought the zz430 ! my good friend is putting out 325 whp on bnr stage 2's on stock boost(10 psi) rotary motors are a force to be recconed with...if you dont take good care of it of course the ****** thing is gonna blow

Well the plan has went back to a ls-1 as of this morning there is a 2002 z-28 which is hit hard from the back at my friends tow yard where he works and I'm getting it friday ! So both the 13-b and the f-20c are not in the picture ! $3500 for the motor/tranny/ecu/and the complete harness with no wires cut ! I'm ordering the motor mount kit and driveline this week !

Good choice. I garuntee you won't be disappointed with this engine--I can only imagine how much fun it would be in a 2700lb car, considering how much of a good time it gives me in my 3500lb tank.

Go with the LS1, my buddy just put down 364 rwhp on an LS1 with a lid and Loudmouth catback. This is no B.S. just got it dynoed on saturday. Cam and head package and that car will fly.

Sorry, but that number with those mods is as close to impossible as you can get. An LS6 might put down that much, but not an LS1--the dyno must have been off or something.
