i believe the only lsd equipped cable tranny for the b16a was the y1, some had "LSD" stamped right below the serial number and block code on the engine i believe. never heard of anything on the tranny though. other than that if you look in the right (tranny) side of the differental, if there is no bar, then it has a lsd. if there is a bar, then there is no lsd.
i've heard of weakness from all off the cable b16 trannys. s1, and j1 had the same gearing without lsd. numericaly higher than the y1 with optional lsd. most will tell you to get the lsd if you can. the open diffs had some relibility issues i've heard. i have a y1 non-lsd from hmo with less than 5000mi (in my car) and i think my 2nd-3rd sycros are starting to go out on me. here is a site you can check out gearing and other tranny stuff for b-series trannys:

YS1 also had LSD option but is VERY rare, if I am correct all JDM trannys had LSD option but was more common on y1. If it's LSD it should have LSD stamped right on the case and like racing integration said you can see right through where the axles go since there is no pin.
