Default JDM Foglight help

on the 97+ ludes. I was reading awhile ago about the h3c to h3 conversion for the bulbs. I seen a metal bracket(wire) on the back side of the housing. ( the part where they sanded off on the h3c to h3 conversion.) What does that springlike part do? Mines dont have it and I think it causes my bulbs to come on and off with the bumps on the road. I'll see if i can get a pic. Thanks fellas

Here is the Pic... am i missing any hardware?

I don't see one in your pic so I am pretty sure you are referring to the retaining clip that secures the bulb to the housing. I have not installed my jdm fogs yet, so I was able to easily inspect them. I hope you have the rubber boots at least (didn't see those, either). You could possibly fab some if you could use a friend's clip as a reference. Good luck.

Yes..I have the rubber boot. Just not the clip. Would you be so kind in taking a picture of it. Time for some paper clip bending.

I'll try to get around to it tonight or tomorrow. I have to go to work shortly, so I won't be around till later...BTW it won't be easy to match from a picture. The clip has multiple angled bends.

Keep trying locally and I will get some pics to you as soon as I can. (I can't even find enough time to put my fogs in!)

Good luck!

Can someone post the walkthrough on this? I tried modifying the plugs on the bulbs themselves & I ended up just breaking the bulbs, so if there is another way to go about it, it sure would be nice.

Thanks dude. I just polished them up along with my turn signals. While I wait. I'll see if I can find anyone local.

Well, my life is never simple. I took some pics today, but it seems I can't get them onto the computer. Since I am techno-retarded, I'll have my wife try to figure out what is wrong tonight.

Still tryin' to help,
Tszyu1

You need to do WAY WAY more polishing on the fogs. Check out the polishing thread man, my method and so did others work very well. Those fogs NEED to be clear, itll make a big differance.

The picture above of the fogs are when they were not yet polished. I finished them, but it seems one of the fogs is cloudy from the inside and the reflector housing paint is chipping. Ill post pics later.

Is this how you were planning on modding the lights to accept H3 bulb's? Has anyone tried this way?:

The light bulbs that come with this unit are type H3C which no one in the US has heard of. They are basically like H3 bulbs but with two connectors (one for positive and negative). Anyway, if you want to replace the bulbs, you can buy H3's and solder on a metal lead off the side so that the stock harness will still work. Just make sure the piece is the same width and thickness of the old lead on the H3C's and that it extends out about the same. Also, be sure not to short out the two contacts.

Anyone have more info on this? I'd appreciate some clarification before I waste another $30 on bulbs.

Here is what the wire looks like:

It just wraps around the base of the bulb to hold it in place.

Thanks redtop22, you beat me to the picture request! I have a series of 4 or 5 pictures on my digital camera right now, and I can't get them over to my computer b/c my iPhto app got thrown away. I'm glad you came through with some pics.
