Default Stock B16a Redline!!!

Sorry if this has been covered!!!!, but I did a search and I didn't find anything..
first off I know stock b16a2 fuel cutoff is 8200. I have a b16a2 stock head, and Im thinking of buying a chipped ecu from ebay that redline is set to 8500k, and I was wondering if I can even bring up to 8300, 8400 with no problem? vtec x over is at 5100 w/ this chip.

Thanks for input

I wouldn't risk it honestly. I'd just let it spin to 8200 and I'd be fine with that. If you really want to spin it that high, I'd do valves and Springs and retainers first. so you dont mess anything up prematurely and end up with the pistons hitting the valves

so is it even worth buying the chipped ecu and not rev it passed 8200, or should I focus on other parts.

Theirs no point in reving that high, a stock b16 stops making power at 7800, the only thing that helps in reving higher is the next gear your higher in the power band. I personally had a chipped p28 on my b16 crx, no rev limit. I took that **** 9300 and it sounded like the head was going to blow. Stay with the stock rev limit.

I agree with what he said. My B16A2 is chipped to 8700. There's really no point, seeing as how I don't make any power up there, though

why would you do that? i'm hoping it was an accident cuz thats dumb. a buddy of mine gave my b18c a nice 12k rpm spin when he misshifted(******...) and fucked up my engine. luckily i said "I'll let you drive it if you stop buggin me about it, oh, and if you break it, you buy it". and he did. but still, it sucked

I definitly wouldn't get the chip unless you are planning on upgrading the head down the road. Plan your mods, because you may end up even upgrading the head so that you are making power to 9k (or close) and then this chip will need to be upgraded.

Oh, and if memory serves correctly, power tops out at 7600, but I'll check for sure on that.

u dont make power after 7600 rpm, you lose almost all of it. Honda made the cutoff for a reason.

but if I by this chip wouldn't help a little in the midrange powerband from like 4k to 8k? Down the road I will be getting cams etc... I just want a little more power!!!

If you are going to argue with the opions that you asked for then don't ask for them to begin with.

Get the chip, run your POS to 8500, make less power, and blow up your motor.

look if you are not going to dyno it and you are not doing any internal work no reason to mess with the rev limt.

Is the chip actually done to mess with the fuel map, a/f, or anything else that may increase power, or is it just to raise the rev limit? To me it sounds like just a way to raise the rev limit, so getting more power from the chip would be of no concern.

Im not trying to argue!!! This chipped ecu does advance the timing and remap fuel ratio and drop vtec x over to 5100, also has 5 different chips to use. All I was asking if this ecu would help for low end to mid range power.

No you will gain gain power because tuning is engine specific.

It will feel faster to nubs because these chips run with closed loop disable, meaning it runs the maps purely off the chips and leaves your O2 sensor out. So partial throttle feels more responsive because you will be running off the AF map alone which often times is really rich.

Get it if you want to feel like your car is faster and if you like to pump gas more often.

8200RPM is high enough for a STOCK 4cyl in my opinion, and most domestic owners will say "a high reving 4cyl?" yeah surprising huh, thats almost as much as a bike.
