I would run 24.5-8-13 M&H slicks for a setup like yours. With those slicks you still have room to make more power.

24.5 in my opinion will bog out of the hole in my opinion.

I would run 22 inch slick.

i ran 22's on stock b20 setup with over 300 hp.

So you should be fine with 22's.

24.5's would have room for improvement, but if he is not going to upgrade this season, run 22's.

I hate to jack his post but i have a similar question except a much milder setup. i am in the middle of an h22 swap into my ek and was wondering if a 20 inch slick on my stock 14 inch wheels would hook up good enough. i am looking to maybe reach 220 whp.

I would run 24.5-8-13 M&H, be enough to get full traction without bogging the car...Should hook good with them..

24.5...

Why would any of you guys suggest 22 inch slicks? Those would be way too small. You have to think about room for upgrade which is defintely possible on his b-series setup. Also not too sure about his shorter tranny setup either, so he actually might need the bigger tires.

I'm running 23 inch slicks and only making 230whp/208wtq and I sure wouldn't want 22's...

Are you on a 15 inch wheel or a 13 inch? That's where the difference would be. If you're on a 23x13, that's a good amount of sidewall. Not so much if you're running a 15 inch wheel.

I think 24.5's are much for that set up too. 22x13's would work better IMO

I'm on 13x8 Weld wheels. It looks like the original poster has some 13x8 wheels also.

Don't get 22's... those too small and you will want bigger. Get a gearing calcualtor out and figure out what might worst best with your tranny gearing, tire size, redline, etc... you want to end the 1/4 mile at the top of 4th gear if you can. I'd go no smaller than 23, but I would defintely get 24.5's with yuor setup since you can put down 300+ whp no problem. No point in spending money now then having to buy bigger slicks later.

hes making 258whp. Rock on with a 24.5 inch slick, but its overkill. Even a 22 on 13's is quite meaty.

22x8's will work fine for that setup but will make you shift to 5th in the 1/4. I was at the same power level with much less TQ and am going to move to 24's. You gotta remember it's just .5 of a inch wider, just more runout in the tire and changes the ratio. That ls with a b16 tranny needs more than 22's off the line and in the top end.

just wanted to remind you guys that i AM running a b16 tranny w/ lightweight flywheel on a LS-T setup........and from what i have read so far (and understand) i guess that means i'll need a taller tire, right?

i got a little less power than that on a similar chassis with the ls motor and from using both 22s and 24.5s i would definitely go with the taller ones...and you have a b16 tranny...the regular ls tranny seems too short with the 22s...cant imagine the b16 tranny...unless your revving well past the ls redline...
