Default Out With The Old, In With The New

Alright, I'm bringing this thread to you folks hoping you can help me in a few areas.

First of all, I have a Pioneer MP# headunit that I bought off a friend in '03. I paid $250 for it, and he paid $449 for it a year earlier. The warranty from Best Buy is going to expire in July, so I found it in my best interests to ... take it back to Best Buy, and get in-store credit.

Now, its time to upgrade. I'm looking at a few In-Dash DVD units, but the problem is I don't know which one. I'm stuck between Pioneer, Kenwood, and Alpine, but I want a 7" screen that plays DVDs (obviously), and maybe one that has a navigation feature.

Now, another friend is against In-Dash units and says to go with just a standalone LCD screen, run a computer to it, that way I can watch DVDs, use navigation, and if I get a wireless router, sit outside Starbuck's and leech off of their WI-FI.

I'm hoping that you ASV pals can help me out in a tight jam. I don't want to say that money is not object, so I'm looking to spend anywhere from $1500-$2000. I know the computer system won't go for that cheap, but that'd be -the computer, since I'm buying a laptop soon anyways. Thanks for all your help, Rob.

used to work at best buy back in the day.
you're friend can call up 1-888-bestbuy and get them to transfer all the service plan information to your name and such.

we sent all head units off to a contracted repair center that handles many warranty claims for multiple audio companies.

if it comes back with no fault found, be prepared to pay the $25 dollar service charge. a manager wont waive the cost either, so don't try yelling your way out of it.

your best option in my opinion is to sell it on ebay and get a headunit off the internet
