Multi brand pad usage durning track event.
Hey everybody, I'm getting ready for expo and getting all my spare parts together. I picked up a full set of panther plus pads and have a few questions. Right now I'm running CCX pads and would like to use these on the track. However, I'd also like to try out the p+'s. My question is do I have to do anything special to re-bed the pads or anything like that. Say I do one hour on the CCX and then want to do another hour on the p+'s, do I need to do anything special before I start getting on the p+'s? I will already have done the break in procedure on the p+'s before expo.
Just try to do the bed in procedure close to the expo, so you P+s are a good mate to the rotor surface... You should have no problems doing this.
This is what i got from Andie @ CarboTech :
unfortunately, when you switch between the cc-x and p+, you'll need to resurface the rotor, because the two compounds are not compatible. if you just swap from one to the other, the second set of pads you install will not get a fair chance in comparison, because it will have to bed into the grooves the first set of pads imparted on the rotors. further, you may get a shuddering sensation because the new pad is not compatible with the first compound that has already been bedded onto the rotor (i..e film transfer).
So I'm just going to pick up a set of Brembo blanks (which I should have as spare parts anyways) and setup one set with the p+'s and one set with the CCX's (well the CCX's are allready set with my stock rotors).

You could take some course sand paper and go over the rotors real good before you swap pads.
I would just use whatever pad you want for the track event and keep the other one around as backup just in case.
