ECU storing highest RPM reached?
I own a 04 Si, does anyone know if the ECU stores the highest rpm reached? If it does, how long does it store it for? Just to squelch speculation now, I'll tell you that I did not do anything to the motor or overrev it. I just want to know if it has some kind of memory. Thanks.
normally yes so if you blow up your car the dealership can look into it and tell if its legit or not... it can bring up latest shift points and RPM's i believe, to help honda in monitoring warrantee "fraud" i guess you could say

Thanks! Do you know how long it stores info for? What else does it monitor? Does it monitor various sensors like knock and timing?

The ECU doesn't store the info unless it needs to (if a trouble code is set) However there is a DTC for High rev (no check engine light) It sets if the car is run at very high rpm's for more than a minute.

When a trouble code is stored the ecu saves the engine parameters at that time. We had an s2000 come in with a dropped valve, the freeze data showed the rpms at 11,400. Warranty didn't cover the repairs.
