88 crx hf
ive found one of these and have been working on it for a few weeks to get it to run. its been sitting in a car port for 3 or 4 years. replaced battery, batt. cables, sprark plugs, new gas, and done igniton check. engine turns over but will not start. i believe the fuel pump has gone bad.
i just got my haynes in the mail and the pump looks easy to replace. my question is has anyone done a fuel pump replacement before? is it as easy as it seems? am i right in thinking it is the fuel pump? also what else could be causing no-start?
thanks

ok fellow 88 hf owner, lets get started..
when you turn the key to ignition does the fuel pump prime? if yes is there fuel pressure coming to the rail, if no are all the fuses etc good and checked? the fuel pump isnt EASY to replace so id make sure that it is in fact bad. sometimes a bad main relay wont allow your car to start etc. just make sure you know 100% before you drop the tank. good luck

easy, to make sure just in case have a friend turn the key and listen through the gas filler hole with the gas cap off no way you can miss it then. but its loud enough to hear from the drivers seat deffinitely
hmmm, maybe im not listening for the right sound but ive tried and havent heard anything. ill get a friend to listen next time. in the case that the fuel pump is fine how could i tell if the main relay was fouled. its under the dash correct? also, could i just check the fuel filter to see if gas was reaching it, or would it be easier to just listen. check the plugs for a gas smell?
thanks for the help
