Default H22A Recall?

I know there was a recall for the front balancer oil seal on the usdm h22a1 for the 4th gen , but was there ever a recall on jdm H22a for the same years??

^ The JDM wasn't an option on cars sold in the U.S. So, if there was a recall in Japan, and you tried to enforce it here, it wouldn't work. Also, the time has probably expired for a free fix.

I went ahead and installed the balance shaft seal retainer on my jdm h22 just to be safe.

The balance shaft seal will work its way out of its bore causing a Huge oil leak and sudden loss of oil pressure=metal on metal=bad.

The seal retainer is only like $3

gags apartment dwellers say the h22a4 came with a seal retainer from the factory.. so youre good to go

as far as the jdm issue is...you'll notice that most of those engines were very well maintained and most have the retainer...

i've popped timing covers off a bunch of them (h22a1's) in my friend's shop and i cant recall seeing one without a retainer, but it doesnt hurt to check

when those seals blowout it sucks massive d

i was wondering about this situation i have cell 22 (vtec pressure valve) and your situation. I didn't put the balance shaft pulley and such together and my mechanic told me so b/c it helps shoot oil to the head. No oil = no vtec. It sounds right....rite? right now i have no vtec !!
