Default 89 Civic Si, Any suggestions for Street Sleeper?

I have recently bought a 89 Civic Si HB with the D16A6 motor. I am hoping to do a N/A setup with the D motor, I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to achive this goal within a College/Technical School Budget. I have plans of rebuilding the D16 and I am trying to do most of the work myself as it is part of my mechanics training.

ANY info would be of great help and thank you very much.

if you want to keep it sleeper keep the hubcaps...

boost the d or do a dohc zc/sohc vtec swap... all motor d series dont usually get too high in the hp range.

i love d16a6's though.

N/A probably won't be very impressive with that motor. Try to peice together a turbo kit and then get it tuned. That'd be your best bet I'd say. You'll have to do a shitload of research to know what you doing when peicing together the kit though.

Vtec/ or a Z6 head, do the bolt on's. i/h/e, fpr, get some springs, motor mount inserts, and spray maybe a 35-50 shot. depending on milage, with a good ecu and you should be pretty quick, quick not fast, if you do spray, you could get a good headgasket and some arp head studs then u could easily do a 50.

If your on a budget turbo is the only way to go.Homemade kit is 500-1000 dollars for a realiable setup that will make good power and stomp boat loads of cars on the street.

i second that, im only $300 deep into my turbo kit and that includes getting an extra turbo and an extra intercooler, the only thing left to get are dsm 450cc, and they only run about $50 for a used set. figure it'll cost around $400 when im done, turbo is the way to go!

Yeah go turbo..Maybe do mini-me d16y8 vtec head swap and a 14b turbo or something similar.Ported out hf manfold with adapter plate..Get a queit bosch bov re-routed back in to the intake,,Flat black intercooler..Get some s-tech springs and some decent tires..Keep the stock queit exhaust and get one of those cutouts..Keep the interior stock dont start stripping it and hide the boost gauge somewhere..Get rid of the SI badge on the rear and get a DX badge..Definetley keep the hubcaps,,but get decent tires..

Get something like turboedit and tune the engine to possibly 200whp with stock internals, injectors and fuel pump..Get the gayest seat covers and steering wheel cover you can find and put a "Jesus loves you" sticker on the back of the bumper..
