Default 2006 Civic 2Dr. stop sale order! OWNERS READ!

January 2006
Safety Recall: Occupant Detection System
Does Not Suppress Airbag Deployment
Dear Civic Owner:
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the
requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle
Safety Act.
What is the reason for this notice?
Honda Motor Co., Ltd. has decided that a defect related to
motor vehicle safety exists in certain 2006 Civics. The
front passenger occupant detection system (ODS) will not
stop the front passenger’s airbag from deploying when an
infant or a small child is in the front passenger’s seat. A
deploying front passenger’s airbag can increase the risk
of injury to an infant or small child. Honda reminds you
that children of all ages are safer when they are restrained
in the back seat.
What should you do?
Call any authorized Honda dealer, and make an
appointment to have your vehicle repaired. The dealer will
install a new ODS control unit. This work will be done free
of charge. Please plan to leave your vehicle at the
dealership for half a day to allow them flexibility in
scheduling.
Who to contact if you experience problems.
If you are not satisfied with the service you receive from
your Honda dealer, you may write to:
American Honda Motor Co., Inc.
Honda Automobile Customer Service
Mail Stop 500-2N-7A
1919 Torrance Blvd.
Torrance, CA 90501-2746
If you believe that American Honda or the dealer has
failed or is unable to remedy the defect in your vehicle,
without charge, within a reasonable period of time (60
days from the date you first contact the dealer for a repair
appointment), you may submit a complaint to:
Administrator
National Highway Traffic Safety Administration
400 Seventh Street, SW
Washington, DC 20590
You can also call the toll-free Safety Hotline at
(888) 327-4236 [TTY (800) 424-9153], or go to
http://www.safercar.gov.
What to do if you feel this notice is in error.
Our records show that you are the current owner or lessee
of a 2006 Civic involved in this campaign. If this is not the
case, or if the name/address information is not correct,
please fill out and return the enclosed, postage-paid
Information Change Card. We will then update our
records.
Lessor Information.
Federal law requires that any vehicle lessor receiving this
recall notice must forward a copy of this notice to the
lessee within 10 days.
If you have questions.
If you have any questions about this notice, or need
assistance with locating a Honda dealer, please call
Honda Automobile Customer Service at (800) 999-1009.
We apologize for any inconvenience this campaign may
cause you.
Sincerely,
American Honda Motor Co., Inc.
Honda Automobile Division

There is a certain VIN # range. But it's canadian built 2Dr civic's on one particular day. The recall covers about 12,000 of them.
If you think your car may be involved don't let anybody weighing less than 100LBS ride in the front passenger seat untill the ODS is replaced.

as my previous post said 'pm me for details to keep this thread on topic', I manage an import shop in ND, so I preordered through me directly from Robert Agnew at AEM/DC.

You sir, are a fear monger. It's a recall. Big deal. People shouldn't panic. There's no reason to cancel your new car order. Honda found the problem, they are fixing the problem. New cars coming off the line already have the problem fixed.

And I like your poor grasp of the facts of the automobile manufacturing process. You say " But it's canadian built 2Dr civic's on one particular day. The recall covers about 12,000 of them." Do you really think that anyone builds 12,000 cars per day? Where do you get this information?

I guess you are a product of our times. Where we are constantly on "Terror Alert". Where our president winds us up about the dangers we are exposed to so he can violate any law he wants and make sure his defense contractor and oil industry buddies get rich. The average American is far safer than ever before, there is less violent crime than ever before and yet the average American believes that he is in more danger. People like you spreading fear are the cause; stop it.

Regards,
Alan

Ok i'll bite
I'm sorry if I terrified you but that was not my intention. I am simpally stating what American Honda has given to me. But you are partially correct I was wrong in saying all of the vehicles were made on one day. The correct information is: the recalled vehicles are 12,000 Canadian built 2Dr models VIN 2HGFG1…6H500089 thru 2HGFG1...6H5012863. Again sorry for terrifying you and placing you on high alert.
People should be aware that the force of the airbag will not be lessened if the occupant of the front seat is a child or small. Therefore the risk of bodily injury is greater. So untill the owners get the notices they should use extra caution. No mongering intended.
