Default A couple problems I need advice on... Pics included

Okay I had a friend check out my Integra since I just bought it and didn't know much about it or cars in general, heh...

There are two problems I'd like to bring up...

One is the radiator. It is cracked... I know that this appears to be a common problem with these cars, so I was wondering if I could just get a few good suggestions? From reading the forums, it sounds like I need to make sure I get one that is going to fit? Any suggestions as to the best one I can get, the cheapest(but still reliable) one I can get, and maybe a compromise one? I don't want to have to modify my car to get a custom one in or anything.. I just want my car to work and not overheat or leak antifreeze The crack is on the top plastic part, as shown here:

The other problem is there seems to be some oil leaking from the engine. I am not sure at all what is causing it or where it is coming from, so I had a couple of pictures taken of it, maybe someone will recognize it as a common problem and a way to get it fixed?

Other than those two problems, my exhaust/muffle rattles (it is stock) and I was just wondering if that tends to happen and if I just need to tighten something or is it going to like fall off like one of my friend's car's did? heh...

BY THE WAY I think it will probably matter, my car is a 1997 Acura Integra LS (AUTOMATIC) with no mods.

Oh and the antifreeze around the cap is just spilled from filling it :/

Well in terms of the radiator, if your just going to be daily driving, just get an OEM one. If you go here, you can find OEM parts, cheaper than what you would pay at the dealer. http://www.acuraparts247.com/

In terms of that oil leak, the black cap thing on the side of the head, thats the cam seal, looks like it just needs to be replaced. You can do this your self, all you need to do is remove the valve cover, and pop it out.

I think this part is like 10$?

hope this helps.

It looks like your radiator tank is cracked, which you'd obviously have to replace. Do some calling around to local parts stores and find a good price. Worst case scenario, hit up some junkyards or the classifieds for a used unit. Your oil leak appears to be coming from your cam butt-plug, which is the round plastic thing in the pic. You can either replace with a OEM part, or go for an aftermarket unit which seem to be more reliable. Most are made of aluminum with multiple O-rings that should seal you up good.

hmm that acuraparts247.com is like listing the radiator as $403 ? Is that right? e-bay seems to have some aftermarket ones cheaper

Everybody has aftermarket units cheaper than OEM. Stealerships need to make money, I guess.

Any aftermarket ones that will fit like OEM? Like I said before, after a little bit of reading it sounded like some of them, like Koyo, seemed to have issues fitting? I am sure there are simple ways to make these things fit, but I am in no way a mechanic

i have the same problem with my engine, it leaks in the same place and my exhaust rattles too. my car has 185000 miles on it. i ve been told its the cam seal as well and told that you can fix it with some high heat silicone. as for the exhaust, how bad of a rattle is it?

try ww.radiatorbarn.com good prices and very quick to ship.

The cam seal is real easy you can pic them up all over ebay, or check the sponsors. It should cost you $10-15.

You can install both of them your self in just a few hours. The radiator is pretty basic. The cam seal you remove the valve cover, remove the last cam cap, remove old seal, put the new one in, tighten every thig to the correct torque numbers and away you go.

The exhaust rattles pretty loud I guess. You can hear it in the car, and sometimes it's just when you start the car, and sometimes it rattles when you give the car a little gas, but goes away when you let off... I guess that is obvious, lol. Uhm, but yeah it is decently loud.
