URGENT Hondata question/problem...HELP ME PLEASE!
I accidentally put in my chip upside down and triedto turn on the car. Check light came on(plus it ran like crap) and when I noticed my mistake and flipped the chip and turned on the car, it still wouldn't work. Did I ruin or erase the chip? The ecu codes don't even read codes correctly now. The SRS light just flashes forever. HELP please.... Thanks guys.
Try resetting it, by disconnecting the batt for 10-15 minutes, then re-connect and fire it up, and let it idle for a couple of minutes.
If you put the chip in with the pointer in the wrong direction chances are you 'fried' the chip. Replace it with a new chip and see what happens. Good luck.

The car should be able to start and barely run if you remove the Hondata chip(this is per Hondata's manual that you can download from their website), but correct me if I'm wrong...sound like someone is going to be making a phone call to Lawrence this morning...at least your not 2+ hours from the closest Hondata dealer like I am
or rather make a call to Jeff at IB since he claimed that he can fix all your problems while buying you lunch, etc...

not at all. I was being serious. If you look at the posts from awhile back from this guy he was having problems with the Hondata and Jeff posted that he could fix all the problems and make it run perfectly and make the most power and the most out of his setup while also treating him to lunch. So I just figured that Jeff was taking care of the issue for him.
But then again I'm waiting for my UPS shipment and everyone knows how I get when I have to deal with the "big brown!" More like big POS.

But Mike, I do still have the idle problem and I'm still going down to see Jeff. I'll let everyone know what's up when I come back from my 6 hour trip.
sure that rough idle isn't an engine problem. Fixing the idle on the Hondata is hella easy. Lawrence has done hella Hondata's and they all idle fine. Even the most picky tweakers say the idle is great on their Hondata's. Its hard to say that its the programing of the Hondata which is causing it.
Here's my possible solution which I'm sure Lawrence has stated:
#1 problem with the engine. Something its working right or something has gone bad.
#2 the ECU could be a bad ECU. Try swapping you chip into another Hondata ECU which is similar to yours and see what happens. I've heard that some people have gotten bad OBD1 ECU's from Hondata.

Well when I brought my car into Lawrence, it worked perfect and idled fine. Then we put in Hondata(with a p28), 310's and a fuel regulator. So I figure since from the dyno, my A/R is fine, it must be the tuning or ECU. The only reason I lean towards tuning is because when we make my idle richer, the car idles a little better but that means I will be going through plugs left and right and my milage is really going to suck.
I would try the ECU. With that setup it should run fine. Heck I Lawrence was able to tune a car with 550cc's running just a Bosch pump for street driving and it idled perfect.
Defintally try swaping ECU's and see if the problem goes away. Also try hooking up your stock ECU and see what happens.
They are just idea's, but hey to drive to So.Cal for a idle problem is crazy. If tuning was the case then dozens of Hondata people would be a DSR's door wanting their idle fixed. Out of all the people who have done it, or rather out of all the cars he's tuned this is the only case which I've heard of where someone hasn't been happy with their tuning. However its probally just a software/ECU issue rather then tuning. Heck just call Doug at Hondata and ask him what he thinks about Lawrence's tuning.

2. It could be the 310s
3. It could be the regulator
Have you checked those out yet?
Before those above listed changes; What was your A/F ratio when it idled fine? And what was your cam gear timing set at?
I am assuming that you had your car tuned at the same time (since you are quoting A/F ratio); Maybe it is your cam gear timing that is causing your idle problems. (Big cams causes loopy idle) Maybe if you moved your cam gears back to where you had it set before you tuned it, It will idle properly again (although you wil probably make less power as this is not the optimal setting).
Sometimes there are sacrifices when using race parts on the streets; There are trade offs- You can idle smoothly but make no power OR have the lumpy idle and make power.
Also it seems you already know the answer to your idle problems; Give it more fuel and it will idle better. Maybe that is what the cams want. Also remember at idle you are in closed loop fuel trim.
