tail light dash light emergency!
i have a 1992 Honda Prelude and ever since i have installed my new head unit my lights have been acting wierd. now my speedometer lights do not work (it still works and tells me my speed and RPMS and everything and the gas and tempurature and clock still light up) and now just recently my tail lights just went out and the bulbs are still good. i have checked all the fuses under the hood and under the steering wheel and there all good except for the "Small Light" fuse (20A) under my hood and every time i replace that one with a new fuse i turn on the head lights and it blows the fuse immediatly! my friend and my uncle tell me its a fuse. i dont know what i can do and my uncle is stumped also and he knows quite a bit about this type of thing but he has not seen my car in person since these incidents. all the light fuses have been checked and they're all good. i have been driving for about a week now with no speedometer lights at night. its buggin the hell outta me and i want to get it fixed as soon as i can before i get pulled over for my tail lights. can some one please help me out!!!
a short in the radio harness w/ disable other components. most likely you have an open wire in your radio harness. Double check your wiring to make sure that all open wires are covered with electrical tape.
my friend had the same problem with his car after he installed an aftermarket radio. His tail lights wouldn't work anymore and the fuse kept on shorting. I checked out his wiring and most of his wires were open; including the +12 acc. power wire. I re-did all his wiring, soldered all the connections, and wrapped them up in electrical tape. Problem fixed.
i dont think there is anything wrong with the head unit itself, im guessing i just accidentally loosened a wire when i dissconnected the head unit and reconnected it to put in a new installation kit cuz the one i had was broken.ill have to take it out again tomorrow and check all the wirings again and see if that fixes it
