I got 2 friends who have the same exact cooling problems. Everytime they drive there car and there at a stop light the tempature light raise up to almost red. And then when they start moving again to cools down again. I was thinking it was the thermostat. But I am not quite sure can someone help me out?!!!!!?!?!

Make sure your cooling fan is coming on. If not that would explain why the temp goes up when the car is still.

Or you could change the coolant, that might help.

try your fan..if possible hook the fan up to a switch to where its constantly on and see if that helps the heating problem...

Thermostats ususually stick open. If it was that it would be cold while driving and at operation temp when idling. Your fan not coming on is the likely culprit. When idling it is suppose to provide airflow through your rad. When driving your speed does that automatically and your fan is not needed. That's why you are overheating at idle and at operation temp while driving.

Sounds like a clogged radiator. Also check out the coolant fan fuse.

flush your coolant, replace your thermostat, check radiator, and fan, and put in new coolant.
