Default how crucial is an exhaust

my jdm b16a is being put in right now into my 98 cdn si (ex), ive been told that i need an exhaust or it will choke to death! should i get the stock sir exhaust or save for a good exhaust, and will it hurt my motor?

you should have searched, this has been covered many times. There is a great debate on if all motor engines need alittle back pressure or none at all. I can't see how not having a exhaust is going to choke your engine. The bigger issue is noise, running open header is loud. i would say if you can handle the noise for a bit then wait and save up for the good exhaust.
