Default Flat black engine bay

Im wanting to flat black my engine bay due to it being white and the rest of the car being some kind of gunmetal type color the previous owner did. What product do you guys recommend I use to do this? Im changing tranny's this weekend so I think im ganna take advantage of the extra room ill have. Thanks.

i have used duplicolor flat laquer. but you will most likly have to primer first. is the krylon more like the flat black you get with primer. i am looking for something with more of a primer finish that wont start to rust

yeah krylon is real flat if you use the ultra flat ... they have many variations i think flat looks good.

glossy spray paint doesnt last if you clean your engine bay all the time, you will get that glazed look over the paint.. with flat you never really have to clean it but it always looks clean

i used gunmetal wheel paint in a spray can for my engine bay. layed down a primer coat and then a couple coats of the gunmetal paint......no clear and it turned out pretty good, decently shiny, but its a breeze to clean up and since theres no clear it hides dirt really good too. you mentioned the car was gunmetal so i just thought i would throw that out there. also, if you do go flat black, make sure you dont primer black the engine bay, use actual paint that way it doesnt start to rust.

Don't use laquer.

I painted an engine bay a flat black and it makes the bay look horrible.
In person it looks horrible but in a poor pic it looks awesome cause it is hard to see the wires and crap. I would do gloss. opinion
