I'm swapping the engine on my civic again (but i'm still staying D-series) and I figured that since i'm putting a new engine, low miles tranny, etc. in, I might as well refresh the suspension. I'm not talking about shocks and springs or coilovers or anything, I'm talking about making sure it works right (balljoints and bushings).
Two years ago, when I bought the car, it was trashed. But I had a totaled crx that I swapped most of the things off, and it got all the play out of the suspension.
But now, the upper control arm balljoints have some play again. Now to the point. I've heard the 90-91 upper control arms have replacable balljoints, but honestly, I haven't gone out in the cold to verify.
I've looked at San Leandro Honda's website (honda-parts or something) and it didn't show them replacable. I've checked the books of both MOOG and Mcquay-Norris (I have a friend who works at an auto parts store and can get anything).
MOOG's book said the balljoint was recalled and "they'd purchase any other brand for a replacement" and Mcquay's book said it didn't exist.
Sorry for the long post. I wonder how many people will actually read this? Well, I hope tyson or someone will know. After spending money on engine, tranny, etc. I don't have the money to spend $100+ a side just for these balljoints.
thanks a lot.

edit-> Ignore the lack of moldings, i didn't wanna get cheap paint on them. When I have time/money to do real body work (and real paint), they're going back on.
almost 300k miles, and I want it driving like new. Too much to ask? I don't think so. It's a honda from the time when honda's were worth buying. So it's worth keeping.

here is the link to a guy from ebay....just tell him what you need...ordered all my stuff from him a few years ago worked great...only way to tell if your balljoint is removable is simple...take of the tire and if the top ball joint sitting flush with control arm then your fine...but if there s a weld seam around it then its not removable...hope this info helps below

thanks a lot everyone. i'm going to check out that ebay store, hope he didn't sell the moog parts.
90civichbsi, the book didn't say, it just said it was recalled and gave that message. sorry.
oh, an idea, since it said it would buy any competitor's ones for you, you could wait till they're a little more worn and have them buy you new oem arms. just a thought.
