Clutch Master Cylinder upgrade?!?!
99 Honda Accord LX 2dr 5-speed I4
Afraid my clutch master cylinder has died.
Today my trusted local mechanic called to let me know that the dealership had informed him that there is service bulletin out for an upgraded version of the clutch master cylinder for my car. GREAT! right? Well this new version requires the replacement of the master cylinder, dampner line, clamps, AND slave cylinder! I've confirmed this with 3 other dealers so far. These are running from $240-260. Not what I wanted to hear. One tech at the dealership informed me that I did not need to replace the hose, an $85 item, only the master and slave as a pair. Any other ideas?

Tell Honda you've got a few surplus Dash Clusters you'd like to exchange for their "Updated" Clutch Master set-up.
If that doesn't work, ask them to participate in the units cost, considering they wouldn't have released an "update" if there wasn't a deficiency in the original system.
If that doesn't work, just truddle off and get a direct replacement and just fix it.
Hey, that's pretty cool, the guy in the motor pool's got a direst line to Honda Parts!
