Thinkin bout a CRX
What do you guys think I should do? I'm keeping my eyes open for a 90-91 CRX. I'm starting to think I should keep the GSR stock and just work on a lighter car. Or should I just get the CRX, use it as my daily and fix up the GSR? I love the body style that they have and you can get them cheap around here in Iowa.
If you really want a lighter car, DON'T get a 1990-1991 CRX. Because these cars are very heavy for their size. Carefully consider the weight of 2G CRXs:
1988 (No door seatbelts on any model!)
HF - 1819 pounds
DX - 1922 pounds
SI - 2017 pounds
1989
HF - 1834 (only non-1988 without door seatbelts)
DX - 2105 pounds
SI - 2138 pounds
1990
HF - 1967 pounds
DX - 2105 pounds
SI - 2174 pounds!
1991
HF - 1967 pounds
DX - 2105 pounds
SI - 2174 pounds!
As you can see here, you would actually be better off with a non-SI 1992-1995 HB than a 1990-1991 SI if you are concerned about weight! If you really want a light car, get a 1988 HF, 1988 DX, or 1989 HF. Remember that you can add all the SI amenities to these cars, except the sunroof. And you will still have a lighter car than an SI of the same year. It is MUCH easier to deal with any shortcomings of a lower trim CRX than the obesity problem of the SI.

Get the 88 HF the lightest and best to mod because of the fuel injection. Si is to heavy and DXs fuel injection system is not worth the time. Good luck
