Sever Oil blow-by, Rings shot? valve seals, guides?
D15B7 94 civic DX stock, 160,000 miles on block 300 miles on head 10w-30 vavoline oil.
When reved up high or at high rpm's itll have a huge cloud of embarrising smoke, its oil, I have to refill the oil every few days or so depending on my driving.
I don't wanna think its my rings, but it's juts denial, i think it pretty much is, just wanted to post and see what yall think before I got get a new motor or re-ring this block.
The head is brand new! I got 300 miles on it now, Although, when I got it it was missing lil things like the cam seal, so I was leaking oil like a bitch when i First put it on, Looks like the valve seals are on there. lil black o-rings with like springs around them right?
How would I test to see if is my guides?
I Just wanted to make SURE its nothing to do with the head before I take my motor apart or drop another block in.
did a compression test, the results:
Dry
Cylinder 1 2 3 4
121-122 135 129-130 142
With oil
123-124 159 180 129-130
Now with some cylinders I accdently poured alot more that a few drops in, so that explaints why cylinder 3 skyrocketed high.
With this info and test I gave you, its the rings huh? So i better get over denial and re-ring that bitch...
Just wanted to make sure it coulnt be something else...
I have been putting lucas oil stablizer in it hoping it would slow the smoke down, but it doesnt, I bought a bottle of NO-SMOKE and she still smokes bad.....
I mean, like only at higher RPM's, I could get by with not beating on it and stay under 3k I guess,
should I use a thinker oil? ? ?

Try a leak down, it will tell you pretty much exactly where the problem lies, if you have any leaky cylinders. Also to check the guides, you have to remove the head. Remove the valves and visually check to see if the guide holes have worn to an "egg" shape. Might be hard to tell if its minor. If you can see it will be in the same direction as the cam lobes turn, front to back. If you cant tell with naked eye, use a telescoping gauge and a mic.
If its the rings you will hear the air in the crankcase when you do a leakdown. I mentioned in another post that i can post instructions on how to make a leakdown tester yourself for cheap. Not the hundred or so that they go for.
Good luck bro'!

So, my compression is good= not bad rings?
OK, ok Guess ill have to do a leak down to determind the REAL problem.
But wait, the compression rose as I Added oil, that means the rings are Fu#ked ?
Ok, So anyone want to help me out and send the gauge(leak down) my way so I can check the rings? Ill send it back.
