Hey so i am turboing my civic with a small t25 turbo and i am worried about the heat messing up my carbon fiber hood....i know i can get a heatshield made but i dont want that...it hough about dynamat but i dont really know how effective that will be...any ideas?

 

shouldnt really be a problem, but you can always buy a sheet of sticky heat shield (like a heat protective sticker [;ike dynamat but specifically for heat]) that you could put on the underside of the hood, above the turbo/manifold
(I plan on doing this too...just because Im paranoid)

 

yeah Ive had mine for about 2.5yrs and its just now starting to crack and discolor. It was a cheap *** one too

 

any specific types i can get somewhere?

 

i have a c/f hood on my z6 that runs 20+psi and i have never had an issue with heat messing it up. Then again mine is vented as well though.

well if youre using an HF manifold then just get a manifold heatshield.

 

had my drag kit on there for three years with no probs. with the f-r equal length, i am putting on a DEI thermal barrier.

 

I have a CF hood on my b series turbo had it for a long time. No probs at all. Hood is still as good as new.

 

my friend has gone thru like 4 turbo motors, and his CF hood is still like brand new...

 

My bro has an EK that he drags. (Boostedjeff). Hes always had a CF hood on there and never had any probs. And trust me, his turbo def creates some serious heat.

 

You should be okay w/o a heat shield.

i had it like this for over 2 years now. no problem

 

i had cf hood on my turbo ek and it just made the black cf to a dark golden cf hood

 

I'm running a TD04 14G which is about the same size of a T25. I haven't had any problems what so ever.

 

I have a VIS hood and after a few years it has a dip in the hood right above the turbo/ valve cover area (it's a big dip), I am tunning a t3/t04b. I have a new hood ready to go on and when I put it on I am going to put the sticy heat sheild material on the hood to protect it a little better this time. The heat sheilding material is cheap realitive to a new hood so why not.

 

Mine did this after only a few months and without a turbo
I'm definitely protecting the next one I buy.

 

nothing should happen.. the heat goes through the intercooler..my friend has a 10 sec hatch.. he also has a cf hood and its of course turboed.. nothing should happen to the hood...
