Yeah it sort of pisses me off, I've worked longer on Hondas than most of these kids have been alive[since 82 my first dealership job] Then after working all day I come home after 10 hours of wrenching, and try to give good sound advice to people that need help. The result is some smartass's email sayin that he once upon a time bled brakes and there was no ill effect from the way he did the job. Fine...he got lucky!! But to then turn around and tell me that I'm stupid; yeah that pisses me off; I have experience on my side.
The articles states to NOT push the master cylinder to the end of it's travel when bleeding brakes 'manually' or damage will occur from the residue in the bore.
Exactly what I said in the prior post. I am now redeemed!!!!
There is about 12 inches difference between a pat on the back or a kick in the ***.

I'm glad you got mad, cause now I get this information. I am going to have to show that to one of my instructors.
PS I'm not really glad you got mad, but this does make alot of sense. This is for bench bleeding a fresh MC?

This concerns bleeding brakes with an older/used master cylinder.
You can sign up at your local honda dealership to have the 'express tech' magazine sent to your school or instructor.

Makes sense to me. But when people ask how to bleed the brakes, I usually just give them the old brake pumping proceedure, because I know most people don't have a vacuume pump. I guess I should give them the pump method first. Then the old way, as an alternative. Too lazy to explain both ways each time. I know how to type, but I don't engoy it LOL.
I've used 'gravity' bleed for years while doing a major service;open the bleeders with tubes attached, going to a catch pan, and while adjusting the valves, keep the brake reservoir topped off. By the time the valves are adjusted there is clean fluid coming out of the bleed screws. No pumping or vacuuming.

I've got 22 years in Dealerships, have done everything related, continue to repair the family's fleet of Honda's and I try to read everything.
It's not so much that someone offers an alternative (hey, the more the merrier), or something that has worked for them.
It's how the "Little Wieners" among us like to make themselves look good at the expense of others, that really goes across sideways.
I'm getting a better idea why people such as desertHonda and others have just "gone away'. You get tired of it.

desert is still here, he's just calling himself honda-master now. he couldn't keep himself away, even for a week.
IMO you guys have absolutely no reason to even try to redeem yourselves to anonymous idiots on the internet. if people don't want to take your advice, let them do their own thing, and best of luck to them... no reason to get hurt about it or even feel like you need to justify your information.

LOL Hondadude..... P Adams-I started in Honda Dealerships in 81.....used the gravity bleed while adjusting valves back in the 'Good Ole' flatrate days. I only joined this board a couple of weeks ago but quickly saw that I'd be responding to very few posts. After spending all day busting butt, the last thing I want to do is ....sit down and read posts from foulmouthed smartalecs. I try to help the guys who seem to be genuinely looking for help and appreciate it. Thanks for venting for all of the techs here. You folks who are sincere...Thanks also!
I have to agree with Hondadude 100%. I replaced all my brakes a while back and pumped the pedal to the floor to bleed them. On my test drive to test out the new brakes I was buying a new master cylinder
I thought maybe DH to HM was sort of a secret, so I wasn't going to say anything. But I do like the idea that he's still around. Welcome! to OldTopTech. Have any machanic friends who like answering questions
? Just kidding.
