car makes whining sound while cruising.
not sure if this belongs here..or integra..
i've noticed that sometimes while driving my car will making a whining sound from the front..it sounds similar to that of a supercharger whine..its a 90 ls.
sorry for the extreme lack of detail in my description, but there's nothing else i can say about it.

Could be a wheel bearing going but it's hard to say just from a one word description of the sound it makes. You can check to see if there is any play in your front wheels.

Wheel bearings hum...I was trying to go somewhere with that. If it gets louder as your vehicle speed increases, first thing I think of is tire noise, bearings.

i put my money on the g/box bearings, my 79 mini did this so i sold it, woulda cost me about 1k to fix dunno for a honda....havent lasted long though considering mine was 26 y/o lol and they just went, because as you when you put clutch in it goes away so its DEF not wheel bearings anymore, gotta be trans by that descrip

if its aloud *** whine its most likely ur tranny, and im so very sorry
My trans did the same thing before it exploded
although it was very loud and noticable but only under a load, jack up the front put it in gear and row through em to see if its the trans
if not it could be something much easier to replace suchas a wheel bearing

That may be because the wind sound blocks out the whinning sound. Got me though.

Do it now. If it is your tranny changing the MTF or just making sure there is enough may buy it some extra life.
Cheers.

i've heard alternators that have bad bearings whine like what you are describing. But anyway, bump for a resolution
Edit: this car = red headed step child

Mike, on my zc on my old ef, I had the same noise. It ended up being the alternator.
As for the wheel bearings, they wouldn't whine, it would more of a hum.
Check the belts as well, as they could be doing it. Pm me if you check out all of this and the problem doesn't go away man.

I would do a visual check on all the drive belt for sign of dried or crack, and check the tension. With the hood open try rev the engine, if it the belt then you can hear it as the engine rev.

alright..i notice it happens mainly when i let off the gas and its more of a whistle than a whine.
the timing belt was done a couple months ago, btw so i dont think its that.
