Panda CRX...need some help/opinions!
I bought a 88 black CRX and it was PRETTY beat up when I got it...I picked it up for 400 bucks so I couldn't complain though.
My dad has a thing for older hondas and we started restoring it...now it's Championship White. Only thing though is they didn't paint all the moldings the same time as they did the rest of the car so the moldings don't match the paint of the car...it's this WHITEWHITE color...while the rest of the car looks CW. And some of the moldings don't even match other pieces of moldings because they were also painted at different times.
And they said they could never get it to match 100% because it's not metal like the body of the car and that to get it to match pretty good they'd have to put the moldings on the car and respray the moldings and the areas around the moldings and that would take too much time and money.
So I thought i'll just have them strip the paint off the moldings and it'll be a panda! (Black/grey interior, black engine bay, picking up some black slips in the spring time...kinda goes with the theme). Anyways they said stripping the paint off would be a LONG hard process and not worth it and they also said they scuffed the moldings before they painted them so if they did strip it there would be scuff marks all over it and it wouldn't look very good AND since it's not metal if i tried to sand the scuff marks it would kinda eat away at the rubbery/plastic material.
So they said they'll paint it black for me for no extra charge, I just have to by a pint of the paint I want to paint the moldings.
They use Sherwin Williams paint...anyone ever paint their moldings black? Anyone know a good color black to paint it? I'm thinking semi-gloss, flat black? Maybe I should go gloss? Anyone ever paint the moldings black? I did a search and didn't come up with much.
Basically I just need to know what black to buy to paint the moldings...it can be any molding paint for any car produced or it could be any main color paint...I just have to have the name/paint code so I can tell them and they can order me it and get this thing done.
FYI: They'll be spraying all the moldings at once now so it'll match perfectly....I just need to make up my mind!
TIA

I wouldnt spend too much time/money on paint like that and having a shop paint my moldings black.
Pick up a couple cans of Duplicolor trim paint from Kragen/Autozone. I did mine a few months ago, and they turned out great.

That looks awesome!
Since they kinda screwed up the moldings they're repainting them in black for free...I just gotta buy a pint of the paint I want them to be painted and that's it!
That color though is PERfffffffffect...if anyone knows a color like that but made by Sherwin Williams and not in a spraycan...an actual automotive paint for a paint gun...PLEASEEEEE let me know.
Hell...if you know a color name or paint code I could use that! They could probably look up the color on the computer and mix it up and get it for me even if you don't get their exact paint number code for their brand.
Thanks for the replies everyone!
BTW your car looks NICE!
