Default jdm d15 or jdm b16?

hi im thinking of buying a 1989 si crx shell with full interior and full suspension and all the other good stuff i just need a motor and i was looking on http://www.naganojapanese.com and i found a jdm d15 that i was thinking of going turbo with or i was possibly thinking of doing a b16a1 but if i do that then im thinking that the swap will be more and that i wont be able to mod it for a while so i was just wondering what you guys's thoughts were about this.

thanks for your help

Personally I'd go with the b16 because it has a lot more potential for the future. You can always turbo the b16 as well.

CRX is lighter than a Del Sol and the 92-95 Coupes, and the hatches.. In fact, I think it's lighter then any other Honda.. O.o I could be wrong.

But yeah.. CRX is a GREAT platform. Everything is pretty simple with it. I hear the H22/23 have problems with weight distribution though.. So you might want to look at that.

Also, since it's your first Honda, im not sure if you have help or not, but maybe you should stick with something simple, that bolts right in? Maybe a JDM D16 Vtec or the ZC motor. It's all pretty simple stuff.

Why does everyone keep saying that? It weights maybe 35-40 lbs more the a b18c..And the power the motor makes in TQ makes up for it anyway. The only thing I hate about that motor is the tranny with the shift cables.. ..I would run a b-series tranny with adapter plate if I did this swap..

MAN, motors in Canada is cheap. I have a JDM D15 Vtec in my 89 HF and it pull pretty hard, but if you're going to turbo it, you might wanna just go with the B16 because you'll probably spend less.

BTW, how much was the shipping cost to US?

I dont know if you meant to put a D16/D15 and turbo rather then going B16 would cost less. If thats what you ment then you are right 100% of the way.

I got a CRX HF in not so good condition for $400 some body rust but fixable.
Got a JDM D15 Vtec motor for another $300
plus and extra $200 for misc parts.
SI tranny $150
Total so far $1,050

I still have my budget of $5 Gs to spend on this car or even less. But i hear peicing a turbo together is a lil bit cheaper too. Home made turbos i seen people post what they spent on and price ranges from $400 to $900 on a D.

If your seriously thinking of going D i reccomend these sites to get better info:

I paid about $600 bucks for my JDM D16 Vtec Swap and Wiring Harness. That's including the cost I paid for shipping. I ordered it on a Friday, and it arrived early Monday morning.

http://www.hmotorsonline.com is the way to go.
