well, I finally got under the car today (first sunny/not rainy day since last saturday.) At first I can't see what happened, then I swing around to the passenger side of the oil pan and what do I see? At least two holes and numerous bulges that shouldn't be there. Frack. So I drain the remaining oil, not much left, maybe half a quart if that and proceed to take the oil pan off. well, I can't get it off for two reasons 1)bolts holding the 2-1 part of the 4-2-1 header are tight as hell and my socket extension won't reach without me bashing my knuckles against the cross member and 2)it's getting dark and I can't see squat. So I decide to hold off until tomorrow morning and go get a longer extension tonight.

Anyway, one of the holes is large enough to stick the first half of my index finger into and all I can feel are chunks of metal, big ones, heavy ones. Now maybe I'm not that mechanically experienced but I'm pretty sure that there is only supposed to be oil in the oil pan right? Frack again.

I removed the valve cover and all looked well under there so maybe whoever buys this car can salvage the head at least. Man, it's been a long week so far.
