Default Hey you European and Japanese CRX SiR owners, Suspension question.

you SiR (and VT respectively) owners should know that the front lower control arms are different on the SiR models (as well as the knuckles and tie rods), but more specifically the swaybar and endlinks are different.

so what swaybars are available for the SiR with the funky endlinks? what was stock size? anyone know?

heres what im referring to.

Here is how the USDM front suspension all bolts up.... I wonder what if any are the possible differences in the suspension angles in the US vs JDM front arms??

yeah, 88's didnt have the different front suspension. only the b16 crx's which came later in the years. it doesnt even show up until the 91 workshop manual, so there may be only one year of this.

wait a second, those ARE different than what we have in the US as well. weird. it looks like the endlink threads directly down into the arm, instead of ours which have a hole that the endlink goes straight down into that is sandwiched by two bushings.

what did the swaybar end look like?

huh, weird, the 88 Uk manual still shows the arm and endlink looking pretty much like ours.

Go to http://www.honda-tech.nl its a European CRX VT online parts manual. Like what dealerships have. It will show you what the stuff looks like in drawings. I know you are asking for sway bars etc, but maybe an image from that website will be able ot help you out.

the endlinks look nice(er). anyone come up with a list of available bar diameters? i'm going to guess that there isn't an hf equivalent. i'm still a little unclear as to whether this is a curiosity thread, or if you are thinking about something i'm not.

Curious if you have any online resource for japanese domestic part #, sorta like the one you have posted.

Thank you in advance.

The stock size off the VT/SIR is 18mm and impossible to find any aftermarket swaybar with the funky endlink. Personnaly i put a neuspeed 22mm US style with a custom but not very good endlink.

But i'm sure, some japanese aftermarket brands make swaybar for SIR/VT but i never found ....

hmm ok. thats the answer i was looking for i guess. thats too bad. i just wonder why they even made a different style endlink and swaybar... if its 18mm, its no different than the normal kind.

The efficiency off the sway bar are increase with a rigid link (like VT/SIR)

yeah, i suppose thats the only benefit.

fwiw, i think the s2000 front swaybar endlink is similar. part numbers are definately different, but they seem the same.

yeah, ive noticed that SiRs (and maybe all 90-91 jdm EFs) have different front sway bars and endlinks. i can only assume, these balljoint endlinks had less flex than the bushing type found on the 88-89 jdm and 88-91 usdm.

dont know the OE size, but jdm companies did offer front sways for the SiRs. mugen oddly offered 17.3mm and 19.1mm front sways for the SiR style.

i cant seem to find any other sway bars for that style. but SDM of japan, does make some nice and expensive aftermarket endlinks for it.

ah, cool info. yeah, mugen of all companies would have made something for this style.

those endlinks dont really look any different than what i could buy out of a catalog combining a few heim joints.
