Default MUGEN Twin-loop Exhaust, questions, opinions.

Hi guys,
Im just after a few comments about the Mugen twinloop exhaust system, as pictured here:

Do any of you peeps have this system including either 4-2-1 or 4-1 Mugen headers? I currently have Mugen 4-1's with a stock exhaust, and think this would compliment them very nicely
If so, can you please add comments, either pro or con, on the system? IE, power increases, noise levels at different RPM etc.. anything that might help my desicion.

It will be going on this beast (free ITR ***** )

Im pretty confident of the Mugen products for obvious reasons, and spending just under $2000 NZD incl gst, shipping, customs etc.. ( through a local company direct from Mugen) on an exhaust to most people seems outrageous. But IMO, id rather do it once, and do it right. Plus the New Zealand **** group (Parliament) have thrown another "noisy exhasut" law in that came into practice Monday morning, and id rather not waste $250 each time i get pulled over for noise.

For the people that have it:
Do you think it was worth the $?
Would you still buy it today or spend less on something else?

That dont:
Are we crazy?
Do you want one too?

Any info would be great.
Thanks in advance.

PS: any photos of an ITR with it on would be great too.

Have it. Love it. Hytech header. Not too loud, but still makes decent power.

its an overall good system, but i think for a lowered car... the Resonator is going to take a beating...
80% of mugen exhaust systems ive seen, the resonator has been crushed flat.
a crushed resonator doesnt affect its performance though i guess...

I can't agree anymore ....

I'd like to think I know how to drive a lowered car around town too....getting all sideways over speedbumps to gain the extra millimeters to avoid scraping the exhaust....

but as careful as I was...I managed to scrap it almost flat....It's a great system and is very high quality....

The only cons about it IMO would be how low the resonator hangs and perhaps the overall weight of it.... the muffler is definately heavier than most aftermarket units.... but the lighter mufflers will be louder (N1 style) ....give and take...give and take...

After I installed, I have loved it ever since. It's not too loud and not too quiet. hp wise...your not going to really notice a difference, the overall sound is just amazing though.

A friend of mine used to have it on his R and it sounded great, a little deeper than stock but not loud at all it's perfect.

i have the hytech twin loop and for the money i would go with that instead , it's cheaper and still makes as much power , however the mugen exhaust probably fits better , ... mine was a real pain to get in position ! just my opinion

I have both the exhaust and the 4-1 header. Better gains can be found with other brands, but I am more than pleased with the performance - and the quality and craftsmanship are second to none.

I am running the set-up with a test pipe, and the exhaust is nice and quiet other than at WOT.

This is a quite common problem, being that the resonator is so huge. Other than some scrapes, my resonator has NO dents in it, and the exhaust has over 100,000 miles on it.

I had the Mugen TL on my R with a JDM 4-1 header and T1R test pipe. Like everyone elses, the resonator went flat on mine too so I replaced the B-pipe with a T1R and kept the Mugen muffler. Sound is definitely sweet. Not too loud but loud enough to intimidate at WOT. Power is great with the T1R B-pipe.

My opinion, get it .. it is definitely not the cheapest one out there but it is worth the price.

BTW: I'm making 206whp with this setup and a few other goodies ..

also have the hytech twin loop. mine fit great and the gains were good (or seemed good, on the dyno)

.....from what people are saying, it might be in your best interest to get just the axleback (presumably they sell it) and make your own 2.5" straight through resonated b-pipe or buy one that works in this manner

i had the mugen 4-1 header and the twin loop on my ITR. best exhaust i have owned. i loved the sound of it. i switched the mugen header to an an-r full length, but i still kept my exhaust. unfortuntley my exhaust was on my R when it got stolen.

No love for SMSP? Where are all the SMSP ****** now? I'm in the ongoing process of building a mugen type R, and i swear, sometime a compromise is for the better.. which is why i'm gonna go with smsp instead of the mugen Twin loop for the same price tag, when i'll have the funds... David talked about creating a new really low toned exhaust system for the ITR, i wonder what gave of that project

It is only available as a cat-back system for the ITR.

Will the twin loop works with stock header and stock cat? or do I need to get an aftermarket cat?

The USDM exh you buy from King will bolt right up to stock header/cat.

I had the USDM 4-1 and TL on my R for awhile, and I only made 167whp (no stock #s). The twinloop does have a great sound and as others have said the quality on the piece is truly incredible. I also bashed the fawk out of my resonator.
Ultimately it was too quiet for me, I wanted something more rice.

i have the tl as well, and i like the sound a lot. however i can't help but feel that it's hindering performance, considering the small diameter piping used before the resonator. one of these days i will dyno with and without the exhaust

I have a Mugen 4-2-1 header, JDM ITR catalytic converter, and the Mugen twin-loop. The quality of Mugen is top notch.

I took mine off because it was too loud so now I'm back to full stock exhaust. Mostly because I am a massive poon.

And yes, the resonator got beat to shat.
